Trump’s cure for Republicans’ midterm woes is more Trump. Will it work?
President Trump wants voters to imagine he’s on the ballot and has seized the political spotlight in a way that makes make-believe seem a bit more real. President Donald Trump is using his personal approach to help Republicans in the upcoming midterms to shore up their chances in their bid to maintain control of Congress. His cross-country rallies have been held across the country, allowing him to bask in applause when he is otherwise unpopular. Despite this, his approval ratings are low enough to potentially sink his party and potentially damage their chances of maintaining control of the House. Political groups associated with the president have spent around $277 million since Sept. 1 to aid Republicans, but that's not enough. The president's personal approach could be a gamble in a year marked by issues such as the war with Iran, redistricting fights, high energy prices, and cost of living concerns. Despite these challenges, the White House insists that the choice is between President Trump's winning agenda or Democrats' liberal policies and obstruction.
