A word cloud from a new poll captures the challenge facing Mike Minogue: Voters may question Maura Healey’s honesty, but his ties to Trump are harder to shake. A recent poll by the University of Massachusetts Amherst and WCVB suggests that Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is ahead of Republican challenger Mike Minogue by 25 points. The top word voters used to describe Minogue is "MAGA," suggesting that perceived closeness to President Trump is worse than perceived dishonesty. The poll also revealed that a Republican National Committee poll supposedly put Healey only 7 points ahead. Minogue responded by calling the polling "lies" and claiming that the polling was manipulated to create a pro-GOP result. The director of the UMass poll, Tathe Nteta, has full confidence in the polling and believes it accurately captures the opinion of the Massachusetts electorate.
