Rookie James Hagens has been everything Bruins need... and more
Bruins rookie James Hagens is in the Rookie of the Year conversation early in his first full NHL season. James Hagens, the Boston Bruins' youngest player at 19 years old, has been a standout player in the team's first 12 games of the 2026-27 NHL season. He is currently tied for the NHL lead in rookie scoring with nine points and seven goals. Hagens has also contributed to a 4-3 lead in a recent game against the San Jose Sharks, giving the Bruins a go-ahead goal just 40 seconds after David Pastrnak tied the score. Despite not being on the top power-play unit, Hagens' performance has been praised for his speed and playmaking ability. He also leads all NHL forwards with 16 blocked shots. Despite being projected to go No. 1 overall in his draft year, this is a significant boost for the team.
