The report, based on pre-Halloween Instacarton shopping data from October 2025, revealed that Massachusetts residents tend to prefer Reese's Peanut Butter Cups over other popular Halloween candies. Reese's was the top-selling Halloween candy in 40 of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., while Peanut M&M’s came in second and Hershey Milk Chocolate, regular M&Ms, and Snickers dominated the rankings. In Massachusetts, candy accounted for a share of Instacarts orders 3% below the national average. Meanwhile, Tootsie Pops were purchased at a rate 141% above the national share, while in Louisiana, the chewy Japanese candy accountedfor a share 616% higher than the national Average. Utah was the most popular Halloween candy, accounting for 67% higher and 67% above national average, while Colorado and Wyoming were particularly fond of candy corn. The top five cities spending the least were Newark, New Jersey, and Syracuse, New York.
