State police union, Healey reject Minogue's quid-pro-quo claim as ‘false'
The Republican candidate for governor suggested the trooper contract in Healey’s budget was traded for the union’s endorsement. Republican gubernatorial nominee Mike Minogue has alleged that the Massachusetts State Police union's endorsement of Gov. Maura Healey was in exchange for the union's support in the upcoming election. Minogue suggested that a collective bargaining agreement ratified by a supplemental budget Healey filed in September was in return for the endorsement. Both Healey and the union denied these allegations, calling them "categorically false" and "an unhinged rant". The State Police Association of Massachusetts has endorsed Healey with endorsements from SPAM, the Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association, Massachusetts Coalition of Police, and the Massachusetts Police Commissioned Officers Association.
