Peak fall foliage season is currently occurring in Massachusetts, with a vibrant display of warm oranges and reds over the month of October. According to Yankee Magazine foliage expert Jim Salge, there is no need to head to the mountains for spectacular autumn scenery. Instead, Salge recommends a leaf-peaking trip outside Boston on the weekend of Oct. 23-25. Along with Cambridge, Saleg recommends checking out Massachusetts foliage around the South Shore, the Pioneer Valley, the Quabbin Reservoir, Salem and Cape Cod's cranberry bogs.
