Food & Wine announced the winners of its annual Global Tastemaker Awards this week, and several New England hotspots made the cut. As part of the magazine’s list of top 20 restaurants in the US, Aragosta in Deer Isle, Maine, came in at No. 2. The farm-to-table restaurant, which has been a Maine mainstay for over a decade, is open seasonally and is part of a beachside inn at Goose Cove run by chef and owner Devin Finigan. Food & Wine writer Chadner Navarro praises Aragosta’s Finigan for taking “the finest hauls from the region’s farmers and fishermen” and transforming them into creative dishes, such as the “bowls of lobster bisque around which a speck-wrapped lobster tail sits.” Finigan, who has cooked with culinary icons like Thomas Keller, is no stranger to accolades; she was named a semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast in the 2020 James Beard Awards.
