Three names on clemency list. What is Healey waiting for?

These men have taken responsibility, changed their lives, and prepared for a productive future. They have done the work the governor’s clemency process asks of them. Now she must do hers. Edward Fielding, Scott Kirwan, and Randy Arias, who each received favorable recommendations from Governor Maura Healey's Advisory Board of Pardons two to three years ago, are still waiting for clemency. This has led to a campaign led by the Massachusetts Communities Action Network (SCJ), led by formerly incarcerated people and allies, to demand these recommendations be implemented. The current renovation project at MCI-Framingham, which is costing $360 million, has not considered how many of the 200 or so women should be considered for cleMency. As of early 2021, roughly a third of the women at MCi-Framham were 50 or older, and 80 percent of those over 60 were serving life sentences.
