Rookie James Hagens has been everything Bruins need... and more
Bruins rookie James Hagens is in the Rookie of the Year conversation early in his first full NHL season. James Hagens, the Boston Bruins' youngest player at 19 years old, has been a standout player in the first 12 games of the 2026-27 NHL season. He is tied for the NHL lead in rookie scoring with nine points, including four goals and five assists. Hagens has also contributed to a 4-3 lead in the third period against the San Jose Sharks, giving the Bruins a go-ahead goal 40 seconds after David Pastrnak had tied the score. The speed and playmaking ability he has displayed on the power play and 5-on-5 has been impressive. He also leads all NHL forwards with 16 blocked shots. Despite being projected to go No. 1 in the 2025 or 2026 draft, Hagens' performance has been encouraging for the team.
