Boston Dynamics has individually notified South Korean component suppliers to prepare to produce parts for 10,000 humanoid robots by the end of next… Boston Dynamics, the robot specialist affiliated with Hyundai Motor Group, has ordered components for its Atlas humanoid robot from South Korea to be produced by suppliers including Hyundai Mobis, Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution, and Mcnex and Cammsys. This move comes as Boston Dynamics prepares to produce components for 10,000 units by the end of next year. With the exception of Nvidia's chipsets, virtually all components will be handled by South Korean companies. Hyundai Mobi will manufacture the joint actuators and hand grippers, which account for over half of a robot's cost, and Samsung SDi and LG Energy Solutions will supply the batteries, BH EVS will handle charging solutions, and CTR will take on control arms. Boston Dynamics plans to establish a production system capable of making 30,000 robots annually starting in 2028. The robots produced will initially be deployed at Hyundai Motor group's Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, USA, to perform tasks such as parts sorting.
