Pete Fatse lands Phillies hitting coach job months after Red Sox firing
After being dismissed alongside Alex Cora in April, Fatse lands in Philadelphia as Don Mattingly continues reshaping his coaching staff for 2027. The Phillies have hired former Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse as their new hitting coach, replacing Kevin Long who was fired after five seasons. Fatse, who served as Boston's hitting coach from 2022 until his dismissal this season, will join manager Don Mattingly's staff for the 2027 season as part of Mattingley's coaching staff. His move to Philadelphia aligns with Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, who previously held the same position in Boston. The Phillies are looking to improve their offense in 2026, finishing 21st in batting average and 23rd in on-base percentage.
