This Salem resident’s window view has become a Halloween hit
Jackie Norton’s daily videos capture the crowds, costumes, and characters filling Salem’s Lappin Park as Halloween approaches. Jackie Norton, a Salem resident, has become a hit with her Instagram account, @salemwithjax, where she records her window views of Halloween celebrations in her apartment. The videos, which she uploads daily, attract nearly 13,000 followers who tune in to see the crowds and costumes surrounding the iconic Bewitched statue in Lappin Park. Norton was diagnosed with long COVID and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome in 2021, which led to her move to Salem. She and her husband never want to leave the city, despite living there for two and a half years. The idea for the Instagram account started with an unexpected detour. Norton had been running a bakery from her kitchen in Brockton and had planned to continue it, but city officials told her she couldn't.
