Wellesley girls’ volleyball senior Lucy Kulka proving how handy it is to have a lefty at right-side hitter
Lucy Kulka has an advantage over your average opposite-side hitter, and with some help from her mentor at Tufts, she's taking full advantage of her lefthandedness. Wellesley girls' volleyball senior Lucy Kulka has been instrumental in helping the team achieve their first five-set win, helping them reach 10-5. The senior right-side hitter has been a key player for Wellesley, scoring 30 kills and seven blocks in a recent match against Newton South. Her performance has been praised by Wellesley co-coach Lexi De La Cruz, who believes she is gaining more confidence and realizing she is a top player. The team's six-rotation setter, Charlotte King, also works each practice with Kulka to strengthen their connection. When Kulka joined the team, there was a lefty opposite who scored 335 kills that year.
