Dayanna Familia, a 35-year-old Boston mom, allegedly lied to first responders that her daughter, Liyanna, was drinking milk when she turned blue due to fentanyl poisoning. Prosecutors allege that she then concocted a story about the illness, which she likely knew was caused by the drug. Liyana died after unknowingly ingesting the drug, which Familia allegedly declined to report to authorities at the time. Body camera footage appears to show Familia trying to conceal and destroy a white power alleged to be fentanyl, and a search warrant at her home also found the substance. Familia pleaded not guilty at her arraignment and is due back in court on Nov. 20.
