The Student Advisory Committee wants the school to rethink its gym exemption policy for students who spend hours training outside school. The Student Advisory Committee has asked the School Committee to expand the physical education exemption, which currently applies to athletes in Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association-sanctioned sports. Students argue that dancers, figure skaters, and others with demanding physical activities outside school can train just as hard as varsity athletes and still have to take PE.
