Beacon Hill Butterfly House Halloween Display, Boston
A 4-year-old's butterfly costume turned into a whole Beacon Hill brownstone covered in giant monarchs and skeletons. A Boston brownstone in Beacon Hill, known locally as the Butterfly House, has been transformed into a Halloween display featuring oversized monarch butterflies, skeletons, and floral arrangements. The display was inspired by a request from 4-year-old Fallon DiLeo, who wanted her family's home to match her Halloween costume. Parterre Garden Services, a landscaping company that specializes in garden design and then turns into elaborate holiday installations each October. The installation took shape over a two-day process that began on Oct. 8 and involved a five-person installation team of approximately 85 hours. The company handles only about 20 to 30 Halloween decorating jobs each season, but the scale of the work can get expensive, with installations reportedly costing upwards of $25,000 at the high end. Once the season ends, Parterres crews will remove the display and store it for possible reuse.
